Lost Weekend 2
The lamp in my bedroom.
Last night I got to bed at a decent hour, but ended up being awake from 1-4 thanks to suspicious noises in the bushes outside my window. I went to investigate in the light of day and found that my neighbor had left her dog's chew toy out on her porch and something (a raccoon? a coyote?) had dragged it into the bushes to gnaw on. I guess I just get spooked too easily. The end result was that I slept past noon and subsequently spent the whole day in a daze, trying to remember everything I needed to do for the coming week, feeling like I just wanted to lie down and go back to sleep.
This is one of my chief worries about being involved with the theatre - it's a very fun hobby, but I have to wonder if I'm too old for this crap. Being up til 1 or 2 in the morning on 2 consecutive nights, then having to get back to the boring world of work, etc... It definitely would've been alright when I was 22. Now that I'm 32, I feel like I can never quite get on a healthy sleep schedule with shows popping up at random intervals. And it leads to whole weekends getting lost in confusion, frustration, and unplanned napping.
