Only a Shadow of Himself

We have a saying here in Ireland which you may or may not have in your part of the world. On meeting a person who was looking on pretty poor health we might say something like, "sure he was only a shadow of himself".

I guess this guy really isn't long for this world. That's another little saying we have.
