Plume moth

I'm pretty sure this is a plume moth with the scientific name of Amblyptilia acanthadactyla. These have to be the strangest looking of moths as the wings are held straight out from the body in a distinctive 'T' shape. There are many different kinds of plume moth in the UK.

This individual has been in our kitchen for the last couple of days and I did try to get a photo of it yesterday above the back door but it was in the evening and the light was poor. I then looked for it again this morning and found it near the top of the kitchen window. Unfortunately the light in the kitchen was so dark I had to put it in my jam jar (which I use for catching moths anyway) and took it outside to get a better photo. Alas, I was trying to coax it out to land on the garage door (luckily I took this one photo before I did) and it took off and disappeared! I would have liked to have got a better shot but this is the only one I managed :(
