Sad

I checked my rss feed just before going to bed and at first I didn't believe the story I was reading.

I knew he was ill, but yesterday was a launch where he was rumoured to show up - but didn't.

The Apple world has always thrived on rumours. The intense secrecy and the attempts to thwart it are all part of the marketing mystique.

Steve Jobs was truly a one-off.

His biggest talent wasn't just to "think different" but to do it consistently.

Another unusual thing was his ability to assemble, motivate and keep a team of people able to follow his lead.

The photo for this Blip is 'merely' a screen grab - but it was taken on an iPhone where words are being added (using an app of course) and will shortly be sent by wifi to the Internet - or the cloud as it increasing seems to be becoming.

Steve Jobs didn't invent mobile 'phones or wifi or the Internet or photography.

But somehow the products he foresaw and caused to exist joined all these things up and made them easier to use and unleashed endless possibilities.
