Which do you prefer: Star Wars or the old-school Battlestar Galactica?

If you were nine years old and living in America in the Autumn of 1978 the choice may not have been so clear-cut; I was reminded of this in a chance conversation today with Matthew about the modern re-telling of BSG. I remember having dogfights on cycle-back with a kid in the next street, chasing each other with Mattel toys of the Colonial Viper and the Cylon Raider, pinging spring-loaded missiles from over the handlebars.

Somewhat miraculously, I still have my Viper after thirty-three years - still intact with armament and pilot.

It's sitting in front of me even now as I type this.
