I'll Never Forget Old What's-His-Name.

"Africa". One four sculptures representing continents at the base of the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens.
George Gilbert Scott's design for the memorial was approved by Queen Victoria in 1863, & it was constructed at a cost of £120,000 (about £10 million today).
However, it has been suggested that Scott pinched the idea from Thomas Worthington's design for the Manchester Albert Memorial, which was published in 1862.
I suspect they may have both "been inspired" by the Scott Memorial in Edinburgh, blipped yesterday by Mrs. Unremarkable!
