This is a reconstruction.

Without a word of a lie, when I was on an archaeology course a year or two ago, I saw someone fully peel a banana and eat it just like this. I was amazed because it is so different from the way I eat one.

Unfortunately we only had small bananas so the effect isn't as striking as it was!
