this peasant life

although I enjoy the mod cons of life where I am right now, I also love to live like a peasant. Someone who I was traveling about with at the weekend is about to give up his life in Paris and move back to Serbia with his family to start a pig farm. Now, I grew up seeing how hard is is to be pretty much self-sufficient and I don't want that for myself or for my family....but I do want a little bit of it. So it gives me great pleasure when I can pick my homegrown products and process them into something we can eat in the winter. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with these peppers but, after seeing houses decorated with chains of them drying in the sun in the last few days, I decided to do the same. String them up, dry them, and add them to a nice goulash this winter....maybe made with the pork that is also growing nicely in the garden.
