Mostly quite mundane

After the show

David Ford played The Met, in Bury, tonight. I shot my usual video for YouTube and took some OK pictures of the performance (defying the venue policy of no photographs or video recording). But this struck me as the best blip shot.

There's something I love about stages and all the equipment that musicians use to create the sounds that move us. Stages don't get busier than when David Ford is on one. He does this thing with loops which involves recording a few bars of something, then moving to another instrument and recording another while the first part is still playing out. In that way he builds up complex musical parts, including vocal harmonies, that he can then sing and play over. Sometimes he's literally running around the stage to accomplish this. And then showtime is over. The stage is calm again.
