so, today is a new dawn for zambia!

we went to bed at 10pm because there were still lots of results to be counted. was awoken at 12.30 by the whole city of ndola going absolutely crazy! shouting, drums, cars horns.....madness! we stayed up till 3am just listening to what was happening outside.

michael sata is the 5th president of the republic of zambia.

i'm still unsure how i feel about this. he seems to be a vicious, unpredictable man, known for instilling violence and a friend of mugabe. but most zambians are delighted, so we'll just have to see what happens.

i'm just glad that people were celebrating and not rioting.

we went out for a drive this morning to soak up a bit of the atmosphere. kristin took this because i was too busy driving and giving it the 'sata fist'.
