Something's missing...
Inside the outlet coolingwaterduct of unit EC5.
I'm looking upstream, towards the outlet of the condenser.
In front: a ladder to access the duct through a manhole.
Part of the duct has been taken out: that's the so-called "ball catcher".
The catcher consists of two strainers. They catch the little sponge balls which we inject before the inlet of the condenser. The purpose of these sponge balls is to clean the inside of the tubing of the condenser to maintain a good conduction of heat, thus ensuring a good heat rate.
Remark that the duct has a diameter of two meters, every second eight cubic meters of water flows through it...
The light was a bit strange...
