change is a comin'

with looming cooler temperatures in the forecast, two of my great friends and i decided to have a last day of summer. of fun-packed day of adventure and warm weather. we cooked a breakfast of waffles topped with maple syrup and blackberry sauce made from the berries of previous adventures. we packed up the car and headed north to our favorite berry patch, for a few end of the season blackberries. drove further, top down on the jeep, to our favorite beach. dipped our toes in lake michigan as we drank one last oberon (the quintessential summer beer of michigan). explored the woods. then headed back to walloon for an evening on the boat while a rack of ribs cooked slowly in the oven. finishing them on the barbecue along with some fresh corn on the cob. plus a few additional friends for dinner!

i hate to say it, but farewell summer - hello fall!
