A Day at the Races

I spent today at Aintree racecourse - not because I fancied a flutter on the gee-gees but because I was attending a community health event for work purposes.

I have to say I'm not a fan of horse racing in general and I have particular misgivings about the Grand National course at Aintree. Twenty horses have died during or following the annual Grand National race since 2000 and, to my mind, that rather stretches the concept of 'sport'. Other opinions are also available of course...

This chap seems to have lost rather more than his shirt at the bookies. No wonder he'd been hoping to drown his sorrows on the terrace - but it just wasn't his day!
