That Famous Grouse
I wasn't expecting to be blipping a bird when I went for an early run on the moor this morning with a delicate mist hugging the tops. The time was right for some really moody black and white, but in the end I've gone simple and straightforward. The grouse are a familiar sight on the moor, but I only usually see them rising out of the heather and flying away as I disturb them while running along. I've never exactly been known for my stealth!
This particular bird seemed to have decided I wasn't a threat after I had sat around for a while getting arty with the sun and mist. We had a little moment together and it decided to pose for a few seconds before flying away. With the rock and the heather in the frame it's a kind of iconic moorland photograph. The great pooba wouldn't be too impressed with the feet being cut off, but it captures a rather sweet moment for me - and that's what blipping is all about really.
If that grouse hadn't been so well behaved I might well have blipped Mounting the Sun. Posting early for once as I have to get my head down with work. Enjoy what's left of the weekend.
