Green tomato chutney

Have no idea what I´m doing. This is going to be green tomato chutney recipe from Nigel Slater. But the smell of the white wine vinegar is just so horrible I cant believe this is going to taste good. The whole house stinks !!!!
So if this will taste like its supposed to do..... what do you eat it with?? Cheese, bread?? I actually have no idea !
