A Red Kite Spectacle
Last Sunday morning, the BBC programme Country Tracks filmed an item on Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Station in Rhayader, Mid Wales and after watching the amazing Red Kites being fed there I thought I must take a trip up there and see them for myself
So today was the day I decided to zip up the A470 to witness these amazing creatures in flight and feeding on the fresh meat from the farmer.
And what an amazing sight it was and definitely well worth a visit. The Red Kites are just absolutely stunning and there must have been over a hundred birds there in the end, feeding and circling above the site. There were buzzards, rooks and ravens enjoying the feast too and it really was a sight to behold. There are 7 or 8 hides there altogether each seating about 20 people, and all of them were full of people like myself enjoying witnessing these beautiful birds.
Weather permitting, I'm going to go back up next week as my Mum would like to see the red kites too.
If any of you are over this way in Wales at all, you really must pay this Farm a visit. Aswell as the Red Kite feeding station, there's a walk there, shop, picnic areas and eventually a cafe. They have a website too, so take a look folks.
