Clock

Had a great day today. Interesting conference masterclass type thing with Dylan Wiliam, which was beautifully catered and finished nice and early.

I decided to have a wee stroll from India Quay to Custom House Quay while I was parked up at the supermarket as it was a gorgeous evening and I had a little time spare. Thought I might catch a good angle on Emerald Princess who was docked at Ocean Terminal but ended up with this shot of the clock outside the old custom house.

They are building a new home for the arts guild beside this site and I couldn't help but wonder what it must have sounded like in Greenock when the shipyards were all at their height as the racket from one building site must be nothing compared to that.

As a child I remember being a little apprehensive when we passed through Greenock to visit the family in Gourock and I think it was the sights, sounds and smells of industry which I found overwhelming. Such a shame though that none if it is left.
