The grown up tree

How would it have been had the construction crews got their way, years before, and taken this stunning tree away. The scale of it cannot be done justice, its maturity and statue grace us with their presence as it remains now the sole occupant on a little island of a roundabout. Sitting at the entrance to the school at UCLA, it welcomes us in, today, Callum's first day back after 3 weeks. I'm delighted to be back, to sit with him at circle time singing Wheels on the bus, ABCs and Tick Tock, to see the mums and other kids again, to stroll into Westwood Village for a coffee and a catch up on our kids, education and the usual challenges we face in the special needs community. I feel a bit of a smile during circle time.

Reuben's day is now an hour little longer as he's started Pre-K so I use the time to drive Callum and I to pick him up, this time which has always been his nap time, then park up and read a little Scott Kelby that I've had kicking about unread for too long. Yesterday, I gave Reuben a little introduction to maths with some coins and simple flash cards and I skipped to hear his sums, 1+1, 1+2, and 2+3. Maths has never been my strong point, so I purposefully took my exam a year early in school to get it out of the way. I still have nightmares that I'm going into my Maths O'Level without having revised, 27 years later. Hopefully he won't have quite the same challenges!

Reminds me of this in the UK
