Keep your eyes on the street

There has been a strange kind of appearance in our neighborhood: 10.000 pairs of eyes are painted on the streets! It's a marketing trick initiated by the local police force, to inspire people to keep an eye on their fellow citizens' behavior (and their/our own, I suspect). At first I thought it was a big brother kind of thing - especially when I saw these bad boys, but now I think it's sympathetic. My hero Jane Jacobs wrote it's a huge part of safety in cities, to just keep an eye on each other.
