Allenby Terrace Fire

An old wooden house caught fire today in Allenby Terrace in Central Wellington. The amount of smoke it produced was incredible - it permeated my work office, which is half a kilometre away. Luckily the house was uninhabited and no one was hurt.

I took this shot from the office, which is nine stories high. When my boss first alerted me to the fire my first thought was "Where is my camera?". Normally it would have been "I hope no one is hurt".

I think I got a little taste of what photojournalists must feel.
