Durham Cathedral
As Hurricane Katia blew ... we flew over the highways and byways, past fields and faraway. In other words we left Glasgow at 9am and arrived in Durham by 1pm.
I've always heard about Durham Cathedral and seen pictures of this stunning building, but until today had never been. It is the only example of Norman architecture in England. When you compare to the mechanics of building today you can only gaze in awe at the craftsmanship. To think it only took 40 years to build.
For some reason, I was half expecting Tom Builder to jump out to start working on a pillar on the inside!*
