Symi - The Big Picture

So here's the main town of Symi - Yialos. This is where we are staying and if you could see the original 16mb picture you could see our pad over to the left, it's about mid way up the edge, last white square before the mountain starts.

Symi has very strict building regulations that basically mean that no modern (looking) buildings are allowed. So most houses are reconstructed ruins as these fit the requirements easier than trying to comply with all the rules. However it works ( I really don't understand it completely) the end result is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful harbour towns in the world in many peoples opinion.

I went on a photo-walk with our friend Jon Ryan, the photographer I mentioned a day or two ago, in an effort to learn a bit about photography. A very worthwhile morning. The main thing I learned is that I have a lot to learn (and to use the view finder more). Thanks Jon.
