Say, a little prey for me!
Another hoverfly ends it's life on this Garden spider's web.
You'd think as a species they'd come to expect spider's webs spun between fences at this time of year wouldn't you? I think it's been a non-hoverfly for a little time actually as it is already trussed up in silk.
I imagined that spiders simply munched away at their food, much like we do, but apparently, they can't handle solids, so once they've captured another insect - and paralysed it by biting behind the head, they pump digestive juices into it to turn the flesh into liquid.
I bet you all feel so much better around spiders after that, don't you?
