Kefalonia Day 4
Well as predicted the heavens did indeed open..........Kefalonia's first rain since early May. Thunder, lightening and torrential rain.........
Our apartment is perched about 40 meters above the beach here in Lourdas, but behind us is Kefalonia's highest mountain, Mt.Enos, which peaks at 1627 mtrs, and due to it's height seems to have a weather system all of its own. The cloud, rain, thunder and lightening all seem to have been on top of us all day..........on the up side, everything smells so much fresher, it's now a lot cooler and thankfully a lot less humid.
Luckily our balcony has a large covered area. so it's been a real chill out day, laying on the sunbed, reading the next in the Simon Scarrow, Cato series of books, while the weather goes on around us.
The rain did actually stop around an hour ago, so everything is now dry again, so wife and i have moved the sofa to the front of the balcony, the citrinella candles have been lit, and we'll sit and listen to lots of motown oldies, looking out across the sea towards Zakynthos, until the moon finally drops out of site at around 2-30am........
