Has One Dropped One?

Could end up in the Tower for this one. Sorry Liz.

You're probably going to be seeing lots of these beasts on this site over the next few weeks. There's 130 of them going to be popping up in the streets of Edinburgh as part of a fundraising effort for endangered species, produced by different artists and to be auctioned off at the end of September (if you're thinking of putting in a bid for the green gorilla I'd check it for dents first; that one did get dropped by one of the removal crew today). The organisers are also putting on jeep safari's around Edinburgh so that you can do a bit of animal spotting. All good fun, and all for a good cause too. Much more info on the Jungle City website about the project.

After a walk up the High Street last night to watch the fireworks we had a proper Scottish night out - mingling with the tourists, haggis for eats, IPA for drinks, fiddlers fiddling and all finished off with a nice Malt (Ok, it was a Welsh Malt Whisky, but it was nice).

We picked a great day to wander around the Capital today, sunny and warm and lots going on. After a visit to the recently spruced up National Museum in the morning, we watched all these animals get man-handled outside the national galleries, unaware there was a full scale emergency going on at the airport with a military plane having to circle the city for half an hour to burn off enough fuel before it could land. I was going to clone out the aeroplane you see on the left here but realised later it was the same plane that had been spooking the locals at lunchtime. Low flying planes over a city in September does tend to make people a bit antsy it would seem.
