Shiny Helmets
Decided, as we seem to be taking this biking lark a bit more serious, it was time to replace Euan's Fireman Sam bike helmet. So, a visit to Halford's and their 3 for 2 offer had us kitted out with some shiny new helmets and some padded gusset cycling shorts. Sorted.
Had a look at some of their bikes too as they had notices all around about a 'cycle2work' scheme and I knew our work was running this. Well, it's not. Their one is a different scheme. And anyhow, I'm not sure I'm quite their target market for bikes named Vengeance and Banshee and the like; I'm looking for something more along the lines of a Raleigh Cardiac, Beetroot Face, Beer-Belly-Buster or Lycra... U-Sure?
We headed out whilst the weather was still dry and put in a good tour around the Wee County, away from the roads and exploring some new tracks that you'd never know were even there if you weren't on two wheels. Or with a dog apparently; managed to pick up some rather aromatic dog shit in my chunky tyres on the cycle path at one point and had to find a decent puddle to clean it off and stop bits of it flying up into my Euan's face as he followed me. Nasty.
Another quiet(ish) Saturday night in (that's two in a row!) as we're off sharp in the morning for a day's Paintballing. Already been shouting at the telly (X-Factor...{shakes head}) but thankfully there's some good stuff - IMHO - on Sky Arts from the Cropredy Festival just now. Apart from UB40 that is. You can keep UB40. IMHO of course.
