Route Choice
We had a good trip down to Sheffield today to take part in an Urban Race in the Gleadless Valley. It was very physical and you had to keep your wits about you to make the correct route choices between the different kinds of housing development. Afterwards I positioned myself on a walkway above the finish and took 200+ blips of runners coming at me from all directions. This competitor from South Ribble Orienteering Club was concentrating hard on getting her next control spot on! The three 'tools' she is carrying are, a map of the area with the course, her compass for navigation and a plastic 'dibber' on her finger which contains a computerised chip recording her split times at each control. This is downloaded at the finish to ascertain her overall position.
