Mizen Head
Another busy day! Son number 1 and I headed off to the Mizen Head to deliver some cards to the Mizen Vision (!!) and then we admired the newly opened suspension bridge and various new vistas. This is the most south-westerly point in Ireland and has some staggering views - the rock formations in particular are extraordinary. The suspension bridge itself is a pretty impressive piece of engineering. We walked up and down millions of steps and needed some cheese toasties and a bowl of chips to recover. We also saw a seal and some very noisy choughs - like rooks but with handsome red legs and bills.
We then headed on to Barley cove - a huge open expanse of unspoilt golden beach. It was fairly bracing but we were most impressed by a woman who walked down to the edge of the sea, too off all her clothes, headed in for a bracing walk and came out , dressed and carried on. Elsewhere huddles of families were huddled behind windbreaks and towels and huge jerseys.
The lads have gone off to see The inbetweeners and I'm catching up!
