Well not nowadays as far as the ships are concerned! HMS Daring paid a courtesy call to Guernsey this weekend. she has 250 crew and state-of-the-art weaponry

Here she is moored behind Castle Cornet - a reminder of earlier conflicts.

The Lieutenant Governor was invited on board for a Reception. My invite must have been lost in the post.

The hotel has granite walls and terrible wifi so I have to perch on a bench in Reception - so I will take a raincheck (no rain here though) on commenting for 24 hours. Back tomorrow on comments I hope.
