Travelling hundreds of miles, by trains, boats and taxis, is okay. You see lovely scenery, meet some interesting strangers to chat to, have a chance to sit and watch the world go by, drink coffee and read or knit socks and have no more responsibility than to get on and off vehicles at the appropriate time.

It was super to go and meet up with everyone too. Emails and letters are all very well, but it makes all the difference spending time in their company.

But coming home - that's the best bit!
