The Spanish Contingent!

The family gathering was only able to take place because of this lot, and I am so incredibly glad they made the effort to come over.

My brother has lived in Madrid for as long as I have lived in Orkney, ie more than 30 years, and it is nearly 9 years since we have seen each other. His very lovely wife is Spanish born and bred. Her English is much better than my Spanish, and she is so patient and a super person to spend time with. She is a terrific cook and a very organised and calming influence! Their daughter, Alex, is currently living in California, teaching and working for her Masters. So super to get together and see them all and spend a week getting to know each other again. We had some good walks, chats and tried to sort out some kind of provision of care for our parents, which is not easy.

Three other sisters joined us for the day; with partners, dogs and a niece with a tenth birthday too! Quiet a get together!
