While on my runs

Something completely different

Thank you to everyone who looked at and commented on my sunset from last night. Helped me get on the spotlight page for only the second time ever.

This morning I got up to really dense fog; looking out from the deck I could only see two or three houses away down into Grey Lynn Valley. My run took me the other way, and I reached the Morningside Railway Station as this young man was walking on to the platform to wait for the next train into the City. It was about 5 minutes away.

I thought of waiting for the train to include that in the photo, but even 5 minutes was an issue for me this morning, as I had to get across the most awkward traffic of an Auckland work day morning for a full day conference on Mental Health Law.

Very interesting, although I was struck by the way that "Mental Health" has become the (euphemistic) way to refer to illness, disorder, or whatever (not a state of health at any rate). The first presenter needed an energiser battery, as he managed to make a discussion about how a focus on flourishing will improve well being even for those with an illness, appear uninteresting. Removing inequality is a good in and of itself. It will not necessarily result in an individual flourishing, and should not be sought for that reason.

The weekend beckons.
