Saint-Felix Lauragais
After various jaunts here and there in the morning and knowing we had nearly two hours before C took her eldest daughter up to Castres for a party, L, G and I drove a few miles back in the direction of Toulouse to the beautiful village of Saint-Felix Lauragais.
This is not the first time on blip that this village is mentioned, as I believe it is also the home of our lovely fellow blipper, Jean Ribart. Unfortunately, there was no chance of a meet as I was sure Jean would still be in the Alps, hopefully enjoying a lot more golf.
The village is approached up a very steep hill, the road into the village peeling off from the main road that runs around the hillside. We parked outside the walls and walked up the little street that lead to the market square, although I'm not sure they still have regular markets here. We had a lovely time investigating the nooks and crannies here, visiting the odd shop or two and then making our way to the top and the reveal! What a view from up there - it's about 340 metres above sea level. We could have seen the Pyrenees if the weather had been a touch clearer, but still, it was marvellous. It was quite windy too and made holding a camera still for a usually simple 1/45 second exposure a bit difficult.
Round the other side though, it was a little calmer and I was able to catch a few nice blips of the new wind turbines whizzing round. I'm not sure when they were planted there, but I can't see them on the Google Earth imagery, so I would think the last couple of years. I had to wait ages for some sun to fall on the front turbines - I really didn't want them all in the shade.
