They May Never Be Written or Posted Again

I have a small collection of Postcards.

In addition to a beautiful colourful pile I have gleaned over the last 12 months from new friends, I have a very small, little muted pile of postcards which are over 100 years old.

My old postcards are of my home town only. Although I love the pictures, and examining the existing town for any semblance of what is in the card, I love the writing on the back.

It's a little snapshot from history. Real people touched and held the cards and wrote a personal message.

One of the messages of the ones in the picture describes how as the weather has been ideal, and they have been bathing, they are like "N*****rs".

One other card mentions the lack of the noise of bombing, obviously folk from Glasgow, staying a little farther down the coast to avoid the bombs.

I do wonder about the people, and every time I pick the cards up, I think of something else - this time, I've been examining home addresses. Wouldn't it be amazing if a relative still stayed in the house it was posted to?
