Bristolwood and Beyond

A lovely birthday....

Today was my birthday and my eldest daughter suggested we once again visit the Genesee Country Village and Museum. Every year, around my birthday, there is a large Fiddler's Fair at the museum and folks travel from all over to participate as well as observe.

The Genesee Country Village and Museum is one of the most awesome places to visit. The setting is 19th century, and the folks that work there dress accordingly. There is much to see and do, from visiting the barns and seeing the animals to participating in activities. There is an entire village of houses and businesses as well! The Fiddler's Fair is just the icing on the cake!

Everywhere one wanders around the village during the fair, there is music in the air! There are several stages where various groups play and one can decide to stay in one place or wander. There are also "jam" areas set up where folks who play are encouraged to join in.

The atmosphere during the Fiddler's Fair is so festive and fun. What could be a better way to spend a birthday than with family, outside? The only downside to the day was the heat....it really got uncomfortable for awhile, but because of the fun, it was tolerable!

So....the ox above was rather stubborn! I had visited the barn earlier and all I could photograph was its behind. Not very attractive...at least to humans! I went back a bit later and the huge animal decided to play peekaboo! As I looked through the photos taken today, this one was by far my favorite! It is incredible that this animal weighs as much as a small car!
