Eternal Love
Fanie, our gate guard told me about the lovely elderly couple, walking past our complex holding hands, at a regular basis! Today he phoned to tell me to come with my camera, they are approaching!
They were so thrilled to talk to me and gave me permission to blip them!! Thank you so much Jean and Collin Price! They are almost 80 and 77 respectively and are such a lovely example to zillions of young people! They emigrated from the UK, lived in Worcestershire, 23 years ago, to join their children and grandchildren in South Africa, because they felt their grandchildren did not even know them anymore.
We had a long and pleasant chat on the sidewalk outside our complex and exchanged addresses and invites for afternoon tea and cake! They moved from Randburg, Johannesburg, to Hartbeespoort in December 2010 and are quite disappointed that they have not made any friends here yet, despite the fact that they stay in a security complex, similar to ours! What a pity, I can't believe that neighbours don't even make an effort to talk to new residents, especially when they are so obviously lovely and elderly! They were so grateful to have met someone to talk to!
They paid a visit to the UK about 2 years ago, and on their return to South Africa, Collin had quite a bad stroke on the Johannesburg Airport, as soon as they set foot on SA soil. He recovered quite well, but has a wee bit of a problem with the memory, but as he says, that's not too bad, he is at an age where people forget things!! ;-)
