Surgery on a Building
We stopped by my office again this afternoon. Mr. Fun wanted to make sure my computer station was hooked-up correctly. He has been so helpful during this ordeal since we had t o move out in February and now during the move-in.
When we arrived, the window washers were up the ladders cleaning the glass and making the place shine. The dust and construction filth was a bit discouraging this past Monday when we first walked past the fencing to get inside.
So even though this isn't a pretty sight, I wanted to capture it. The handle to my office door can be seen by looking through the blue ladder. I don't think a surgery zone is pretty either, but what the surgery accomplishes is usually necessary. The inside of this building -- the new Learning Center -- is what I am most anxious to see. The Learning Center will be home to three departments: English - Writng Center; Math and Computer Information Systems.
All faculty report back to the campus one week from today for orientation and mandatory meetings. Classes begin on Monday, August 29 and the classes I will teach this semester will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So I am currently savoring every minute of summer and actually I have decided that summer is a state of mind as much as it is a season. AND, yes, I am still building my summer soundtrack.
If you'd like to see a much lovelier blip today, PLEASE look at my dear friend LuvU2. Her blipping life was a feature in the local newspaper where she lives in South Africa. It is a meaningful write-up. Take a look.
Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
