Sweet Child of Mine

Daddy took us to the zoo!

We went to Banham Zoo today. It was a really good day out. Nice to do something different.

Elizabeth spent the day repeating the names of the animals and their noises. She was very excited when she recognised some for herself, like the monkeys, cats, ducks and the rabbits in the home farm section. And, like usual at the moment, whenever we moved on she would say "bye bye ___" to whatever we were leaving. Sometimes it was "bye bye water" where the animals had some kind of pool-type area.

For the start and the end of the day, Elizabeth was in her carrier. But when she was out and walking, she was so good. She stuck with us, and held our hands for most of the time. In fact, she shouted at her daddy because he didn't have her hand out for her at one point.

We had a picnic lunch and didn't bother with a high chair. Elizabeth was quite happy sitting next to us on a picnic table. She tried to feed me her sandwich "mummy, sandwich" and then she stole one of her daddy's.

She tried to collect a few souvenirs along the way: a feather, a twig and lots of leaves. Mostly she would grow tired of them and drop them, so nothing came home with us.

When we got into the car on the way home, Elizabeth was asleep in minutes. It must have been a huge learning experience for her, as well as getting to walk lots. And there was a playground where she got to slide and play on the roundabout.

It wasn't a cheap day out, but it was certainly worth the money. I can see us going back a few times over the years. Plus it's not far away at all!
