Day 8: Back to Irkutsk. A little wander around the city, small but nice enough. The big draw were the few streets of old traditional wooden houses with wonderful frames and decoration. Some are old and in need of attention, but the colours and shapes were lovely.

A word of warning: it seems that in Irkutsk, whilst a hamburger is a hamburger, a cheeseburger is just cheese, salad and a bun- no burger. And in case you are wondering why we weren't sampling the local cuisine, we had been fed an immense amount of (very tasty) local dishes by our lovely homestay host at Baikal. And there's only so much warm mayonnaise I can manage...
