"Just messing about on the river"!

Yesterday's forecast for today was "partly to mostly cloudy". However, as you can see, it turned out somewhat better than that - in fact another glorious day in southern Ohio. We all went canoeing/kayaking on the Little Miami, and took a picnic with us. It was really busy on the river today, including quite a number of people who were obviously not regulars on the river - we passed several people who were capsized or emptying a load of water out of their canoes. Whilst there were several areas where the water was shallow, and so quite easy to run aground if you're not used to recognizing the best route, it seemed quite an accomplishment to capsize - and I don't think it was a case of deliberate capsizing either. Jen, who is quite "green" conscious, was doing her bit to clean up the river, picking up discarded bottles from the water to take home and recycle! We did our usual 9-mile route, so the last three miles was quieter and more peaceful, with most people getting out after about 6 miles. We stopped for a Graeters ice cream on way back home, then Roger and the girls went to the pool for a bit, while I stayed home and got dinner. After dinner, a game of  Scrabble, now its time for bed!
