The Red Admiral and the Pear
It's that time of the year again - the birds and the red admirals are having a feast on our 'August Pears' (Experimentalfältets augustipäron) at the allotment.
They are good to eat also for us humans, but can't be stored even for a day, so 'pick and eat' is all we can do. And you can only eat a few pears a day. But it's a beautiful old tree and why should we deny the blue tits and the red admirals their well-deserved august party?
Weather was sunny and rather warm, between +17°C and +19°C. We mowed the lawn, harvested beans and potatoes, got the raspberry plants in order for next year, pruned some trees (including the peach and we started on one of the apple trees), sowed carrots etc. Supergranny (Z's mum) came over for a coffee, and we had a nice chat - she walked all the way from her flat to the allotment.
