Mme Isaac Pereire
I love old fashioned, pongy roses. I'm rubbish growing Hybrid Teas and Floribundas (much to my distress) but shrub roses grow well for me.
Of all roses I have 3 favourites (4 if I include a very old HT grown by my great aunts in Enfield when I was a child and which is a PIG to grow!). The other 3 are shrubs. This is Mme Isaac Pereire, a Bourbon from the late 19th century. I love the colour and the ballerina-skirt effect of the blooms (although in bad conditions they can have a tendency to 'ball') - but the smell - it's delicious! Heavenly. Intense.
