What A Difference A Few Days Makes

Another backblip. I had a great day at the Community Shield at Wembley and this was my view for the match.

Being a Manchester derby it guaranteed a good atmosphere. City fans 'doing the Poznan' where they put arms round each other shoulders, face away from pitch and bounce is a spectacular site. They are actually doing it here, but it's difficult to make out - I only had my blackberry with me on Sunday.

Great for the neutral fan with plenty of goals - even better if you were a Red, with Nani's stoppage time winner in front of the United fans. City went 2-0 up against the run of play, only for United to come back with 3 goals in the 2nd half. It looked like it was going to penalties until Kompany gave the ball away on half way line and Nani sprinted all the way, rounded Joe Hart and slotted home. Some great passing moves on display, but also some shocking examples of it as well. Watched Rooney a lot even when he didn't have the ball, truly world class and offers far more than just goals.

But what a difference a few days makes. This stadium should be full again on Wednesday for an England friendly with Holland. But due to the morons looting and rioting and the pressure on policing, the game has been postponed. Clearly the correct thing to do, but you can only despair at the reasons behind it.
