The Beggar

The Merrick man was up at 8:22 a.m. I changed his diaper, and we went downstairs to play on the living room floor. At 8:34...he gave me that look that only babies can make...and we went back upstairs to change his diaper. I know they have a shelf life of a couple of years...but, that diaper lasted 12 minutes. Then...back to the living room.

At 9 a.m., we were eating Gerbers version of Cinnamon Raisin Granola. No crunch to it, but the taste was pretty good. I got the last 2 bites when the little man decided he had had enough.

The juvie ( I think) sparrow stood on the bird feeder, and peered into the kitchen. He seemed to say..."I can see you feeding that cute little baby. Do you think I'm cute, too? Would you consider re-filling the feeder?"

My birds get 1 big scoop of seed per morning. As they say..."The early bird gets the seed. You wait too long...you don't feed." Once in a great while...in the middle of winter...sub-freezing temps...I'll put in a second scoop. But...not this time of year.

The babys granola, and my banana were consumed. I couldn't believe it...I was getting the "look" again. Back upstairs we went. This time...he insisted on kicking and screaming. I kept my left elbow on his tummy, but he still managed to grab the dirty diaper with his left hand. I let out a little girl scream. The crisis was avoided when I wrangled it away from him before anything came out. The only good thing? The 2 dirty diapers put me in the lead for the long weekend. I won by a score of 5-4.

Every thing's a contest, and I am declaring myself the champion. Can't wait to defend my title.
