anyone growing up in Scotland from the 50s to the 70s at least will remember the Broons or Oor Wullie sections in the Sunday Post newspaper and the annuals produced for each alternate Christmas. Personally I much preferred Oor Wullie - the Broons seemed old-fashioned by the time I started to read the strip.
