Green Lizard
We went back to the fantastic Réserve Naturelle du Pinail (website) for a walk. This is a moon crater-like landscape caused by the extraction of millstones. The resulting circular ponds are havens for wildlife - particularly damsel and dragonflies. We saw lots of emperor dragonflies but they were moving so fast they were almost impossible to catch with the camera.
This lovely green lizard (Lacerta viridis) was slightly more obliging and let us take a few shots before disappearing into the thick undergrowth.
Think I may also have caught a photo of one damselfly eating another....do they do this?
