Falls of Lora

OMG as the youngsters say , Spent ages typing this then lost the lot , sorry folks too tired to do it all again . Will add more tomorrow.

Back again this morning. Found some info for you re the falls,;

The falls of Lora are situated six miles North East of Oban on the West Coast of Scotland.

The falls are generated when the tide level in the Firth of Lorn drops below the level of the water in Loch Etive.

On the Ebb tide, the seawater in Loch Etive pours out through the narrows which are themselves spanned by the spectacular and historic Connel Bridge. The currents and waves produced by the flood tide are also well worth seeing and paddling

The falls provide excitement for kayakers and divers as well as a stunning sight for tourists and photographers

I thought there might have been a story of someone called Lora but no , the names derive from the Gaelic name for "Labhra" which means noisy while the Gaelic name for the falls is " A ' Chrois " which means voracious.

The Connel bridge which replaced the original ferry crossing from North to South Connel is also from the Gaelic " A' Choingeal" which means the white dogs and refers to the white water.

Well worth crossin the bridge and heading over to Benderloch and into the Western Highlands , amazing scenery. had we not had a hospital appointment yesterday , with the weather we had , we would have headed over that way .

The comment re the cros winds was spot on , wet, miserable weather today. Might try for a bird shot in the garden . Going to tarbert , loch Fyne this afternoon , might try for a wild water sot , from the safety of the car on the way down.
