Gate now closed
A few seconds after departure off the Col de Forclaz.
Amazing take-off.
The glider is the man on the left - his passenger is the one with perfectly straight legs. They had just run down a steep take-off ramp which had no escape possibility once their run had commenced. I need to locate the blipper who hand glides (Is it fool on the hill?) to ask about the spectacular rates of descent they seem to achieve...
A mass fight broke out seconds later between a man whose eyes could only be described as too close together (perhaps a bit unfair) and his accomplice who over-reacted to a paraglider (earthbound at the time) warning them that they were about to drive into his car.
A massive multi location fight spreading across the road and involving many people. Son #2 carried on eating his ice cream as if nothing had happened.
Always shocking to see, totally pointless and I'm glad the paragliding guy was okay. I felt a bit impotent but there's nothing much I could have done.
On the way down the hill I did briefly think I should have posed as a priest and used that as a strategy but then on second thoughts, I have no evidence that suggests priests are particularly effective at breaking up fights.
Holidays? It's not all vin et fromage you know!
More underwater swimming with Son #1 today. He occasionally breaches the surface only to return to his sub-aquatic world.
Now I've finished Chris Mullins' brilliant second diaries I need to start holiday reading book #2. Which do I choose?!
