Endless Summer
...or so it felt this day. The second day of our sailing "long weekend" with friends and we anchored in a little cove just inside the entrance to Buccaneer Bay on the Thormanby Islands. This bay holds a magnificent beach and as you can imagine on Sunday of the Aug long weekend in Canada it was a busy place. Tucked in behind these islets we were able to escape the commotion and be close enough to take our dinghy over to the beach for a walk. We circumnavigated the north island. Took us about 2 hours. The tide was way out as we started which made it possible although tricky in spots.
I took this shot off the north west end looking out across the Strait to Vancouver Island. It was beautiful summer day. Gentle breeze, hot sun, blue skies, warm water, with nothing to do but enjoy ourselves. We swam off the boat and played Scrabble in the cockpit under a starry, starry sky. The Milky Way was the best we have ever seen it. It is not often that one can find an anchorage wide open enough to enjoy a big sky. Wonderful sunset and star-filled skies.
