a simple thistle

i was on a mission today... i wanted to blip a thistle. i have seen them many times at my little lake but always manage to get distracted by chatting with ducks, geese, the great blue... then end up blipping them instead... forgetting about the poor thistle. i know the perspective holds that a thistle is a weed... however, here are some interesting fun facts i discovered about them:

interesting, huh? because once again, i got distracted today - the great blue was busy catching fish and i got some terrific shots... the geese were wanting their 15 minutes of fame - doing water landings and preening inches from me... i got great shots of them, too.

but after discovering such cool tidbits about what i consider to be a beautiful weed, i decided it would be horribly unfair to ignore it yet again. it deserves its day on blip - to be given its due - which was my original intent and not to be upstaged... after all, i don't like to be upstaged or ignored or passed over myself. yes, i realize i'm talking about an inanimate object... but still. i began with a mission, i should end with my mission, right?
